Joseph Stanley (Stan) Lunday, born April 29, 1941 in Frederick, Oklahoma, passed away on October 27, 2016 following a brief illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Masie Lea and Robert J. Lunday, Sr.
Stan is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda Carol Foote Lunday, married on September 10, 1965 at First Baptist Church of Oak Cliff in Dallas, Texas; sons Jeffrey Stephen, James Edward, and Gerald Alan. Lunday (Debi); five grandchildren and two great-grandsons; two brothers, Mike (Sharon) and Robert J. Lunday, Jr. (Barbara) and his sister, Mary Lynn Lindsey (Glynn); several nieces, nephews, and cousins; college friend, Charles E. Miller (Mary); and, his loyal dog, Lilly, and cat, Sandy.
Stan graduated from Mineral Wells High School, Mineral Wells, Texas in 1959 and Arlington State College of The University of Texas in 1965. He enjoyed repairing and collecting antique clocks. Stan also loved beautiful plants and flowers, especially roses. He was once a Texas Master Gardener in Dallas, Texas where he volunteered in assisting adults and children alike as they learned gardening techniques.
Stan loved and trusted his Heavenly Father and Son, Jesus Christ. During a lengthy illness that he also has endured, Stan read the Bible through several times. He enjoyed reading the scriptures in his Grandfather Huddleston’s Bible.
Stan’s funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at 10:00 A.M. at Murfreesboro Funeral Home, with Rev. Don Herron, Pastor of River Rock Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, officiating. A graveside service will be held at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetary in Dallas, Texas on Friday, November 4, 2016, at 2:00 P.M. Stan’s cousin, Rev. Leslie Banks, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will conduct the service.
Stan is greatly missed by family and friends, but is, no doubt, already busy helping God tend to His beautiful flower and rose gardens in Heaven. We love you, Stan and Dad.
