Obituary of Charles Elbert Pope

Charles Elbert Pope Services for Charles Elbert Pope, age 86, better known as Bo-Diddle, to family and friends passed away 3/12/2017. Services will be held at Murfreesboro Funeral Home on 3/15/2017 Family and friends will be received between the hours of 10:00 a.m. & 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will commence immediately after. Charles was a member of Christiana Church of Christ. He was a lifetime resident of Christiana, Tennessee. Charles began his career in 1954 with the Rutherford County Highway Department retiring after 40 years and 6 months of service. Charles is preceded in death by a daughter, Lesa Dawn Pope and his parents Mrs. Irene Smotherman Pope and Mr. Charles Herman Pope. Charles is survived by his loving wife Lois Jean Pope of Christiana, Tennessee. Charles has one brother, Alvin of Murfreesboro and a half-brother, Ronnie McCallum of Murfreesboro. Charles loved helping people; his longtime hobby was gardening and sharing vegetables with family and friends. He also enjoyed working with machinery and contributed much of his time helping with repairs of farm equipment. He also had a passion for Horses and Raccoon hunting. Charles will be deeply missed by family and friends. Family and Friends will serve as Pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to: TN Childrens Home 804 Branann Hughes Cir.
