Obituary of Robert Howard Fortney
Robert-Howard Fortney, age 47 of Murfreesboro, TN., passed away on January 6, 2018 in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Rob was born in Ashtabula, Ohio to Patricia Young and Greg Fortney on June 14, 1970. He graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1988. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from Middle Tennessee State University in 1999. He was an entrepreneur from the age of 15.
He enjoyed painting, watching sports, traveling, taking pictures, and most importantly, helping others. He was a part of a Digital Nomad community for the last two years in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Rob is survived by his daughter, Sierra-Dawn Meghan Fortney, who was the light of his life. He is also survived by his father, Greg (Martha) Fortney of Ashtabula, Ohio; his mother, Patricia Young of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; brothers, Ryan(Bobbie-Jo) Gray of Frisco, Texas; Eric Fortney of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and Chad(Jamie) Fortney of Naples, Florida; grandmother, Margaret Young of Ashtabula, Ohio. He is also survived by extended family and a multitude of friends and loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard and Audrey Fortney and Robert Young all of Ashtabula, Ohio.
Visitation will be held at Murfreesboro Funeral Home on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 1pm – 3pm with service to follow. Officiating will be Eric Bates.
An additional service will be handled by Ducro Funeral Home in Ashtabula, Ohio at a later date to be determined.
