Greg produced vivid golden memories in the summers of our youth.
The “Greg” turtle always came back the next year. Finding old ship anchors off shore in Lake Huron. Going after “Big Grampa” fishing at the big rock. Riding the mustang bikes to the confectionary for candy. Agreeing to kill 100 flies around the Perakes cottage so Vesta would give us a dollar to go roller skating at Orville’s.
Going to a Livonia house party in July with hockey sticks and snow skis in the roof rack of the Perks mobile. Soc agreeing that we can take the Lincoln into town if we dress up nice. Perks hitting the outdoor BBQ because he would always shut off the headlights driving into the yard to so Vesta would not wake up.
Our deepest condolences from north of the border.

I remember Greg most as a kid at the cottage. Kathy’s younger brother. A very loveable pest. I’m so sorry he is gone. Your obit was beautiful, and you are right—he had a huge heart.

Our cottage was always one of the stops on his progressive dinners. I think my mom always cooked extra because you knew Perks would be stopping in. Lots of great summers at Farris beach!
So sorry for your loss. Love from Canada.

Greg and I were fiends since high school. We met at band camp several weeks before school started. We became instant friends. He called me his "Lil' Buddy" like Gilligan and Captain (he being more like 'The Professor' and me Gilligan) ever since, because we were in the drum line together and I was a lil pip-squeak of a kid with long hair and drum sticks. He saved me from all of the senior class hazing that occured at camp and from that day forward, he ALWAYS had my back and we were best friends. Greg was fortunate to have acquired enough class credits by his senior year to be able to sleep in until second hour because he was always late for school anyways and he had to stick around later each day for marching band practice which he loved. I had first hour band class every morning my sophomore year and I had to walk through what was known as senior class lobby and Senior Hall after class. Every morning Greg would come bounding in the front doors of our high school like 'Tigger the Tiger' in to Senior Lobby and through Senior Hall, and whenever he saw me with my long hair and drum sticks sticking out of my back pocket, he would slap me hard on the back from behind and say..."G'Morning Stix!". Needless to say, that name stuck ever since. I have so much thanks, gratitude, and appreciation for having met Greg and have him in my life over all these years. Words alone can never express the brotherly love that we shared from those days forward no matter what life threw our way. As he would say to me..."my kids and your students are your surrogate kids Bro. You will always have an impact on their lives". He was right. He was the wisest, smartest, caring, loving, funny, quick-witted, and appreciative man I ever met. We shared so many fun times and memories together, I will never forget him and all the good times we shared.
Rest in peace Greg-O. I love you man!
Until we meet again in Heaven.
"ZOOM! ! ZOOM!!"
Love always,
Your "Lil Buddy",
Lewy

Greg-O sat in with me at our class reunion. We hadn't seen each other in years. It was like we never missed a beat.

"The Professor" determined to get us to a better hotel room for the show...a suite on the first floor...that my friend managed. But, we had to walk our luggage a few blocks to get there. The Boy Scout Greg was took matters into his own hands and it worked.
