Obituary of Harvey Newman

Harvey J. Newman went home to be with the Lord on January 12, 2012. The ending of a true love story after 69 years of wedded bliss to his wife Doris Newman. They had 3 children, Joyce (Benno) Langehenke; Martha Uselton; and Kenneth (Jessie) Newman all of Murfreesboro. He had 2 grandchildren, Kimberly (Chris) Hackney and Tyler Newman. He also had 2 great grandchildren, Rancie (Dwain) Edwards, and Kenya Hackney.
He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the SeaBees while in the Pacific theater. After serving in the Navy he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After being honorably discharged he continued to serve as a civil servant at the Smyrna air base. After 21 years of service he went to work at Betterbuilt Aluminum. He retired from Betterbuilt at the age of 79 after 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nellie Newman, one brother, and 4 sisters.
He was a charter member of Bellwood Baptist Church until his death. He was a true man of God and a model husband, father, and grandfather and will be forever loved and missed.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday, January 14, 2012 from 11:00am until the service at 2:00pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Chaplain Bob Bush and Pastor Ron Brown officiating. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers the family ask for donations be made to Alive Hospice.
