A.D. “Wayne” Shockey, age 74 passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021, at home. He was a native of Jackson, MS and a resident of Rutherford County. Preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Hazel Jordan Shockey; and sister Debbie Brown. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Thelma Robinson Shockey. Also, by his sons: Dennis (Lori), Michael (Tanya) and Daniel (Melody). Siblings Dale (Amanda), George (Carolyn), Danny (Brenda), Dixie (Frank) Boggess, and Donna (JR) Baker. Grandchildren: Katie (Michael) Adams, Kelly, Sarah, Steven, Aries, Cassi, Cassidy, Jordan, and Brian. Including great grandchildren: Evelynn, Kinley, and Brantley. He served in the Marine Corp for 4 years and was stationed with his platoon on the USS America when it was commissioned and was the first Marine to raise the flag on the USS America. He retired from Big G Express. Funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with visitation from 11:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm. with Rev. Larry Guin officiating. Interment to follow at Robinson Ridge Cemetery. His family will serve as pallbearers.
