Obituary of David Newton Wilson Jr.

David Newton Wilson Jr, 77, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away on Saturday May 8, 2021 peacefully at home with his family. Visitation will be held at Murfreesboro Funeral Home Thursday May 13, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A private memorial service will be held at the family farm on Father’s Day. David was born in Boone, North Carolina to David Newton Wilson and Geneva Thomas Wilson on November 2, 1943. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1962. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1967 at Elmendorf Air Force Base Alaska. He earned his Bachelor of Science in education from the State College of Arkansas in 1974, where he met his wife of 52 years. He worked as an Insurance Salesman for 30 years. He enjoyed reading, singing, keeping up with current events and history, being silly and making up songs, and being Papa’s taxi service to his 12 grandchildren. David is survived by his spouse Linda Hogan Wilson of Murfreesboro, TN. His four children MyLinda Lorene Nichols married to Jeremy Lynn Nichols of Bell Buckle, TN, Susan Lanette Thompson married to Christopher Wayne Thompson of Murfreesboro, TN, David Newton Wilson III of Murfreesboro, TN and Heather Marie Wilson of Raleigh, North Carolina. His sister Margaret Lee Cates of Hillsboro, North Carolina, brother Thomas Edward Wilson of Hillsboro, North Carolina, and 8 nieces and nephews. His grandchildren Ashley Nicole Heisler, Felicia Marie McCall, Laura Elizabeth Nichols, Christopher Layton Wilson, Brittany Faith Gilbert, Samuel Elisha Thompson, Jeremiah Solomon Thompson, Sara Ruth Autumn Thompson, Austin Kalel Wilson, Caitlyn Emily Wilson, Enoch Elijah Allingham, and Grace Moriah Allingham. His great grandchildren Alexander Silver Heisler, William Champ Heisler, Nathaniel Colton Heisler Jr, Addison Mae Davenport, and Aniya Blake Davenport. He is preceded in death by his parents David and Geneva Wilson, and brother John Wilson.
