Obituary of Joseph Darwin Cook

Joseph Darwin Cook, age 45 of Murfreesboro, TN passed away peacefully at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. He was preceded in death by his father; Thomas Cook, grandparents; Victor and Erlene Cook, Ernest and Evelyn Bowman. He was the son of the late Thomas Cook (Red Boiling Springs, TN) and Jim and Ellen Lanterman (Lake City, MI). He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Jennifer Cook; sons, Fletcher and Jackson Cook; brothers, Jeffrey Cook (Rhonda), John Cook (Rhonda), Brent Lanterman (Susie), and Jeremy Cook; as well as a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Joe was born on March 3, 1976, in Cadillac, MI. He grew up in Lake City, MI and considered that home; although he lived in Saginaw, MI where he graduated from Valley Lutheran High School. Once Joe moved to Tennessee and met Jennifer, they raised their two children primarily in Murfreesboro, TN. Joe will be most remembered as the life of the party who loved his family and friends more than anything. He was a loving husband, father, brother, son, and friend. Joe never met a stranger and was the most generous guy who went out of his way to help anyone in need. Joe enjoyed watching movies and could easily provide any movie quote at any time. He was a wonderful friend and mentor to others. His love of comedy and his humorous personality only enhanced the incredible man that he was. Visitation with the family will be held at Murfreesboro Funeral Home on Monday, November 29, 2021, from 3pm – 6pm with services to follow at 6pm in the chapel.
