Dear David, John , Mary ,Helen and all of the family. I was saddened in learning of the passing of my dear friend and class mate Carolyn. I attended school with her 8 years at Buchanan , one and a half at Central High, and then I transferred to Christiana High in January , 1951 and finished there. I have not seen Carolyn in several years and have asked about her several times through her sisters and nieces. I knew she had been sick several years ago. I want to tell you a story about the Hoovers, They lived on Big Springs road and we lived close to what is now called Miller road , and my Mother also had friends also passed the Hoovers that she would visit at times, she would drop me off at their house and I played with Carolyn and others, I believe Margaret was married then or close to being. The Hoovers were good people and had great lineage. My Father attended Rutherford college with Carolyn's Mother. All the children were nice and good looking , the girls all pretty and Tom was good looking also. I had a school picture of a few class mates of 5 or 6 that made a picture , when we were in 1st or 2nd grade with our teacher Miss Helen Nesbitt , and it was posted on Buchanan friends face book, and David replied about his Mother Carolyn attending Buchanan. I knew Dick and worked with him and Tom in local and state political campaigns several times. Many years ago when I was at a funeral home, with some death in her family, Carolyn asked me who I married , where she was from, her hair and other things. When I told her a red head, she smiled and laughed and said , I always knew you would marry a red head. I was and still puzzled by that remark. To my knowledge , I never had a blonde or a red head in my class or did I ever make a remark about a red head. My wife had been in a nursing home for 9 months and as I would travel back hwy 41 , I would pass where Carolyn used to live or still lived there, and the last week I had a thought of Carolyn , some how when I visited my wife for the last time. The Red Head passed away 5 days before Caroline. Thanks for letting me share my story with that oddity. May God bless and comfort all and peace be with you.
