Obituary of Joyce Muse
Please share a memory of Joyce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joyce Andrea Muse was born on March 27, 1953 and fell asleep in death on February 2, 2011 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Joyce was the 5th child born to Jimmie and Mildred Muse who preceded her in death. Her youngest sister, Teresa Lynn Okwu also preceded her in death.
Joyce attended Bethel Elementary School and graduated from Walter Hill High School in 1972. She worked at Genesco, Inc. after high school.
Joyce's greatest accomplishment, however, was being baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on April 8, 1994. Joyce loved her God, Jehovah, and was obedient to everything she learned and had full confidence in all His promises found in his word, the Bible. In prayer, she would often ask Jehovah to help her to endure, and that He did, right to the end. Just as her Exemplar, Jesus Christ, Joyce has conquered the world! (John 16:33)
Joyce was very much loved by all who knew her and she gave that love right back. Her many health problems did not diminish her love for life and a desire for as much independence as possible. She did not focus on her illness and often stated that this was not the "real" life. Joyce looked forward to the "real" life mentioned in the Bible, one without sickness or death (Isaiah 33:24; Revelation 21:3,4).
Joyce will always be remembered by her loving family: four brothers, Jimmie (Jeanette) Muse of Murfreesboro; Andrew (Pearl) Muse, Raymond Muse and Bobby Batey of Smyrna; one sister, Juanita (Henry) Williams of Baltimore, MD; one niece Leslie (Kent) Johnson of Stone Mountain, GA; four nephews, Raymond and Leon Muse of Murfreesboro; Matthew and Michael Williams of Baltimore, MD; two great nephews, Daniel Johnson of Stone Mountain, GA and Connor Williams of Baltimore, MD; three great nieces, Curtira Williams of Baltimore, MD; Alison and Elaine Johnson of Stone Mountain, GA and a host of cousins.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday, February 5, 2011 from 12:00pm until the funeral service at 1:00pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Bro. Thomas James and Bro. Stan Myers officiating. Burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Middle Tennessee Medical Center for all their care and support during Joyce's hospital stay and also her primary care physician, Dr. Arundati Ramesh.
Our dearest sister, Joyce. We will miss her sweet smile, her quiet voice and personality and her hearty laugh. No more pain, no wheel chair, no doctor's appointments or hospitals. She has fallen asleep in death. In due time, Jehovah will call and Joyce will answer, never to face death again. How we look forward to seeing her again. Then, our tears of sorrow will turn to tears of joy.
Love, The Family
