Obituary of Shirley Mingle

Shirley E. Mingle, 76, of Murfreesboro, passed away Wednesday, May 02, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. Mingle was a native and life long resident of Rutherford County. She was a member of the Leanna Church of Christ and devoted her life to community involvement. She was a life long member of LaVergne Rescue Squad, (former Rutherford County Rescue Squad), Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads, and Women's Auxiliary Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads. She served as hostess at Cannonsburg for five years and was a member of Family, Community, and Education Clubs of Rutherford County. Mrs. Mingle was preceded in death by her parents, Thurman and Minnie Arnold Drake, son, William Douglas Mingle, brothers, Fred Drake, Garfield Drake, Lonzo Drake, sisters Ruth Sneed Carver and Harriet Meadows. She is survived by her husband, William H. "Bill" Mingle of Murfreesboro; sons and their wives, Wendell L. and Pat Mingle, and Myles P. and Maria Mingle both of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Danielle Mingle of Murfreesboro; Thomas Mingle of Murfreesboro; Johnathan Mingle of Murfreesboro; sisters, Deedie Drake of Murfreesboro; Mildred Markum of Murfreesboro; Elaine Porterfield of Christiana; several nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be Friday, May 04, 2012 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, May 05, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Dye and Bro. Bob Bush officiating. Burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be active members of the LaVergne Rescue Unit and honorary pallbearers will be officers and members of TARS and WATARS organization. Donations may be made to LaVergne Rescue Unit.
