Mary Alice Kinslow, 86, a native of Cookeville, Tennessee, passed away on May 19, 2023, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
She was born on May 13, 1937, to Lorene Skimmyhorn Hensley and Elbert Hensley of Bloomington Springs, Tennessee. A graduate of Algood High School, she attended Tennessee Tech where she met the love of her life, Paul Kinslow. They eloped to Ringgold, Georgia, on July 31, 1956. In 1958, they welcomed their only child, Kay. Employed for 43 years at Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation, she knew the addresses of almost everyone in Putnam County. Mary Alice was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, and she attended Collegeside Church of Christ, Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ, and most recently, Pippin Church of Christ. She loved her Lord, her family, and her many friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Lorene and Elbert Hensley, and husband, Paul Kinslow. She is survived by her daughter, Kay Monroe (Brian), grandchildren, Rachel Artley (Josh) and Cole Monroe (Megan), great-grandchildren, Sam Artley, Grayson Monroe, and Sloan Monroe, brother, Jackie Hensley, aunt, Virginia Dishman, special cousin, Pam Dishman, and many cousins. At one count, she had 56 first cousins.
A graveside service was held at Crestlawn Cemetery, Cookeville, TN on May 24, 2023.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Mr. Paul’s Children’s Library, at Collegeside Church of Christ in Cookeville, Tennessee. Mary helped establish this library after the passing of her husband to honor his love of children and to teach them about Jesus.
