I met John by phone in 2018 while visiting my brother in Lafayette, IN. It turns out we are cousins through his grandmother Gertrude Grinstead Catron and my grandfather Sidney Grinstead. We had a very enjoyable conversation asking and answering family connection questions. I also remember the Sinclair station in Frankfort, IN run by Tom and Dick Catron, while my dad had a Sinclair station at the other end of Jackson St.
To Phyllis, Ron McClughen, and all the family, my condolences to all of you. Prayers for John, may he live in your memories for many years.

So glad Carrie Beth brought Kirk into our family so we knew John.

To the family - Our name is Tom and Cynthia Kilpatrick and we live in Hohenwald TN. Our Paternal grandmother was Lily May Catron of Linden TN. Her father John Francis Catron was from Sumner County TN around the Beech community and there are many graves in the Beech Presbyterian Church cemetery named Catron. We have a Catron Cemetery in Perry County with the derivation of the name Kettering,
We did not know your John but feel most likely he may have been kin.
We would not impose upon you but after you time of grief should you want to contact us to share genealogy info, we would love to chat with you.
You have our deepest sympathies,
Regards
Tom and Cynthia Kilpatrick

My deepest sympathies for you all. Uncle John you will be missed very much but I know your up there sharing your jokes and stories! Keeping a watch over everyone!! My favorite memory is of you making Ice cream on the porch at the house by the river while all of kids played and swam! Always watching sports with all the guys! Sending my love and hugs! Posting the last picture I have of Uncle John at the family reunion!! I told him to smile so of course he gave the biggest smile of all . Rest in peace Uncle John

Q: What will you never forget about John?
A: The many times I've spent at the trailer on the river. Helping building the dock. The first time in smoking a pipe. And many other things. He was like a second father to me.
