Obituary of Tyler Judson Harris

Please share a memory of Tyler to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Tyler Judson “TJ” Harris, 31, beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend left this earth unexpectedly on the 4th of June. He is survived by his wife, Avery King Harris of Mount Juliet, his parents, Mark and Beverly Harris of Murfreesboro, and his parents-in-law, Steve and Sherri King of Birmingham, AL. He was a brother to Ben (Hillary) Harris of Murfreesboro, and a wonderful uncle to his niece, Lucy. He was a brother-in-law to Chase King (Julia) of Huntsville, AL, and Alex Anderson (Kris) of Orange Beach, AL and a rambunctious uncle to Camryn, Collins, Kinley, Whit, and Ari. His grandparents include Thomas and Patricia Harris of Murfreesboro and Roy and Margaret Tucker of Eagleville. He was reared within shouting distance of countless aunts, uncles, and cousins in Middle Tennessee, who will all miss him dearly. Born on the 31st of July 1991, TJ was entranced by the military. He followed in the footsteps of his father by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He was designated a member of the C-130 Hercules 1000 Hour Club. TJ embodied the Marine credo, “Semper Fidelis: Always Faithful.” He served his country faithfully in more than 19 duty stations, at home and abroad, furthering crucial classified and non-classified missions. A Mustang Officer, upon retiring from the Marines as a Sergeant, TJ moved back to Nashville to be closer to family and joined the National Guard. TJ was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Tennessee Army National Guard. Here he was honored with the Army Achievement Medal for non-combat meritorious service. TJ was a 2010 graduate of Blackman High School, who continued his education at The University of Tennessee at Martin. There he majored in Criminal Justice matriculating in 2014. TJ was in his element cheering on the Atlanta Braves in baseball or the Los Angeles Chargers in football. He shared his love of traveling with his wife Avery, whether it was to the Caribbean or hiking in the mountains with their fur baby, Roman. They always felt at home exploring new places with each other. He was known for his hilarious dad jokes and his signature laugh and most importantly, for making everyone around him feel happy, cared for and loved. A visitation service will be held on the 9th day of June at Murfreesboro Funeral Home at 9:00 AM followed by a military service that will be held at Swanson Cemetery at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to A Soldier’s Child Foundation ( www.asoldierschild.org) in memory of Tyler Judson Haris.
