Obituary of Henry Marion Igou
Please share a memory of Henry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Henry Marion Igou age 90, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away peacefully on Christmas night, December 25, 2023. He was the only child to Waive and Henry Igou Sr, born on May 14, 1933, in Whitehaven, TN.
He is survived by the love of his life, Anita West Igou, two children Janeen Igou (Don Fortenberry) and Michael Igou (Amie Waller), daughter-in-law Diana Igou, 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He leaves many wonderful cousins, family and friends...he will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his dear son Robert Igou and his parents, Waive and Henry Igou Sr.
Henry enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was always ready to lend a hand to others whatever the need, from a tire change to assisting through a health crisis.
He retired as a Lieutenant Commander from the U.S. Navy, retired from Rutherford County Farmers Cooperative, was a Master Mason, and active in his church. He loved all things “Nature”... birds, wildlife, trees, plants and fishing. He also enjoyed bee keeping and was an avid gardener.
Henry’s health declined in the last few years of his life. There are so many “Angel Family and Friends” who lifted him and Anita on this journey. We are immensely grateful to all, with special thanks to his loving “family” at the Tennessee State Veterans Home, sweet neighbors, the Mid-Cumberland Transit Service and gracious dear friends.
The family will receive friends 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 17, 2024, with a 2:00 pm Memorial Service at Murfreesboro Funeral Home
In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to Samaritan’s Purse in Henry’s name.
