Obituary of Ruth Land

Ruth Groseclose Land 93 of Murfreesboro passed away June 29, 2012 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Land was a native of Kingsport and a daughter to the late Murry Clyde and Gladys Roller Groseclose. She was the widow of Samuel Lewis Land Sr. and was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Sue and C. Rita Groseclose. Mrs. Land was a graduate of East Tennessee State College and Grant Hospital of Chicago School for Medical Record Librarians. She was a former member of Tyne Meade Garden Club, Middle Tennessee Medical Record Council, Tennessee Art League and Belmont Aid. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Land is survived by her daughter, Sarah Elizabeth (David) White of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Martin Lewis (Kristen) White of Murfreesboro; Maria Elizabeth White; brother, M. Clyde (Rita June) Groseclose Jr. of Kingsport; two nieces and two nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 01, 2012 from 3:00pm - 6:00pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Monday, July 02, 2012 at 11:00am at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens with Bro. John Hinkle officiating. Special thanks to the devoted and wonderful caregivers "Trish" Prince and Angela Wade. This fund will be used to establish a foundation supporting melanoma awareness and research on the organization of your choice.
