In my high school days at Rockvale school I was friends with Ms. Clara's sons. Her son Bobby and I became best of friends and spent a lot of time together and remained very good friends until his untimely and tragic death in 1973. I would frequently spend the night at their house in Rockvale during this time.
I have many wonderful memories of this time spent at their home. They were very early to rise and had cows to milk. I did learn to milk cows but, truthfully, I was never an asset an probably a bit of a hindrance in this task. Ms. Clara would fix a big breakfast every morning and I can still visualize her smile when she would comment on how much food I could eat as a " skinny kid". She was a wonderful lady that always made me feel welcome and I grew to absolutely adore her. This lady was one of the finest examples of a good christian woman that I have had the privilege to know, Over the years I would occasionally encounter Dan or Jerry and be able to ask about their mother. I remember how she comforted me at her son Bobby's funeral. There should be a special place in heaven for this saintly lady and I'm glad she was able to live a long life. May God comfort and bless those family members that remain behind because I am certain that Ms. Clara is rejoicing in heaven!
