I remember your wife, mother, your grandmother. I remember her.. I always thought she was a stately Lady. I couldn't wait to get in her class. Though she taught all my sisters Sharon Martin was my teacher. I remember her kindness, her eyes and her grace ,strength and love for her students. Some of those important skill such as Home Economics and Ag, and others need to be brought back into the classrooms, should be as important as learning to drive. We need to teach how "to work the earth" with our hands not just a button, Skills that are a lost art and bring jobs back to America and skills into our homes. I still have the little baby dress that Sharon Martin had us make and remember the pies, rolls other dishes made and the Wool dress and the Spring Double Breast Suit. It was great and I remember the room and celebrating the letter that I got accepted in the Nursing program with Mrs Martin. YOUR mother did the same for so many people. Those Ladies help you know about future plans that needed to be made, a transition from home to the world. That is what teachers do! "Your Mom" indirectly affect me and I am honored to have known her. I know your wife ,your mom and your grandmother is missed and may YOU be comforted in all she gave to others and to you. God will bless and comfort you all.

Mrs. Thigpen was my high school home economics teacher at Lascassas in the 60's. She helped shape many of us into productive citizens by giving us life skills that we are using personally and professionally throughout life. I have fond memories of a hardworking, caring, determined woman who was a shining example to many.

I am so truly sorry to hear that Mrs. Thigpen has passed away. I attended church with her, and she was my librarian at Riverdale High School. She always had a smile on her face and made me feel very welcome in her home. I can still remember her hosting pool parties for our church youth group. May God comfort each of you during this difficult time.
