Obituary of Gloria Decker

Gloria Charlene (Runck) Decker went home to be with the Lord March 3, 2014. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 58 years, Darrell R. Decker of Murfreesboro TN. They were married July 29, 1956. Also survived by a daughter, Verla C. Shafer of Rock Hill, SC, a son, Devan W. Decker and wife, Conni of Murfreesboro, as well as 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Gloria also leaves behind her twin brothers, Richard Runck of Sheldon IL and Robert Runck (wife Faye), of St. Joseph IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Verlin L. Runck and Clara W. (Eilers) Runck of Sheldon IL. Gloria graduated from Sheldon High School in 1953 where she was in the Glee Club and played the French Horn in the school band. She loved to play the piano and was involved in several plays in school. Most of their married life, Gloria and Darrell lived in Bourbonnais IL, where they raised their children and lived until 2009 when they moved to Murfreesboro TN near Devan and his family. She was employed as an accountant for several businesses in the Kankakee area as well has having her own bookkeeping and tax business. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, painting ceramics, and watching her "judge shows". She was a member of Good Sam's Camping Club, a past trustee of the Bourbonnais Public Library, and involved in Scouting, the Bourbonnais Friendship Festival, and the Chamber of Commerce. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 10:00am until memorial service at 11:00am at Murfreesboro Funeral Home.
