Obituary of Jane Tucker
Please share a memory of Jane to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jane Esther Maxwell Tucker died on April 20, 2014 in her home, in the company of her son, Dr. William Thomas Tucker II, daughter, Jacqueline Claire Tucker and daughter-in-law, Sandra Julia-Tucker.
She was the daughter of the late John Edward Maxwell and Jane Ashby Jackson of Rockvale, Tennessee.
She is also survived by her brother and sisters-in-law, Barbara and Ted Kemp, of Smyrna: and nieces Wendy Graves (David), Kim Townsend (Joe) and Holly Hubbs (Bob); sister, Mary Kline, nephews, Gary Byrd & Lane Kline; niece, Judie Maxwell (daughter of brother John & Jackie Maxwell), Sarah Maxwell's children, Donya Drummond & Jane Millan (Gary) and grandniece April.
Jane attended Eagleville High School (1941). She attended Middle Tennessee State University and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, and was voted "Most Popular Student." She also earned her Teachers Certificate and her first teaching job was at Smyrna High School. Jane taught English, and held various other jobs as she raised her family and followed her late husband, William 'Bill' Thomas Tucker Sr.'s academic career. Many years were spent in Chicago and Evanston, Illinois, until they retired back to Murfreesboro, Tennessee. We have lost a treasure to the world. Jane always had a thirst for knowledge and compassion for others. A kinder, gentler soul may have never walked the earth. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions could be sent to a favorite charity or Doctors without Borders World Wildlife Federation, the Nature Conservancy or Save the Children.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be Friday, April 25, 2014 at 1:00pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Cothran Cemetery.
