Joy Sears, 54, of Manchester, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Harton Regional Medical Center. She was born in Bristol, VA to the late Wilbert Morris and Irene Sears. She operated with her mother Sears Restaurant in Tullahoma from 1974 to 1988 and then opened Summitville Cafe in 1988 operating it until 2003. Joy was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Mark Preston Sears; sister, Nannie Elizabeth Sears. She is survived by her brother, John Sears of Estill Springs; sister, Vickie (Wayne) Cranford of Manchester, nieces, Lori Tucker and Melanie Howland; uncle, Claude (Joyce) Hagy of Bristol, VA; aunts, Loriene Walling of Bristol, VA; Norma (Phil) Ferguson of Greenwood, SC, Wilma Jean Newton of Lawrenceburg, TN; great aunt, Rose Marie Skeens of Bristol, VA; the love of her life her 3 great nephews, Aaron Clayborne, Hayden Howland, and John Preston Tucker. A memorial service will be Tuesday at 6:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Bro. R.S. Rigney officiating. Family asks for donations to be made to the American Kidney Foundation or American Cancer Society.
