Obituary of Harry Nornes

Harold was born May 1, 1930, in Winger, MN. He was the son of the late Bernt and Martha "Grambo" Nornes. He is survived by his loving wife Margie Nornes of Smyrna; daughters, Debbie (Mickey) Hanna of Murfreesboro, Sandy Nornes of Nashville; son, Ronnie (Bonita) Nornes of Smyrna; a sister, Idelle (Roger) Bagne of Detroit Lakes, MN; sisters-in-law, Gladys Nornes of Finley, ND, Jill Nornes of Fargo, ND, and Joyce Nornes of St. Paul, MN. Grandchildren- Christy, Robby, David Maxwell and Brittany Nornes. Great grandchild- Devon Maxwell. As well as several beloved nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; George, Maurice and Berdeen Nornes.
All who knew him knew that first in his life was God, his wife, family and last was the love of sports, from co-captain of his high school basketball team, to baseball and bowling. We will never forget his love of golf, The Nashville Sounds, or the Boston Red Sox.
He served his country for twenty years in the U.S. Air Force. Upon retiring from the service, he had a long career for twenty-three years in the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Hermitage Hill Baptist Church and former member of Two Rivers Baptist Church for 35 years. He also took part in Life Lines through Two Rivers Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Monday, Sept 28, 2009 at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Dr. Poly Rouse and Rev. Harry Jester officiating. Burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Sept 27, 2009 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Monday, Sept 28, 2009 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home.
