Norman Ray Turner, 62, of Murfreesboro passed away Monday, May 31, 2010 at his residence after a three year courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Turner was born in Vincennes, IN to the late Winfield Scott and Lena Turner. He graduated from Indiana State University with his B.S. and Masters and also attended Indiana University while he worked on his Doctorate. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served 1 tour in Vietnam. He attended Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Princeton, IN. He was a marketing Teacher and DECA advisor for 32 years at Princeton Community High School in Princeton, IN and was the President of the Teachers Association. Upon his retirement he moved to Rockvale, TN to be close to his family. He loved sailing, woodworking, tennis, and hiking.
Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sue Turner; son, Bradford (Shannon Mayfield) Turner of Cookeville, TN; daughter, Natalee (Daryl) Turpin of Burns, TN; grandchildren, Tyler, Allison, Jared, Samuel; brothers, Gene Turner, James Turner, Merle Turner, Paul Turner, and Robert Turner; sisters, Evelyn Ruble, Norma Kirk, and Mary Buffington.
A visitation will be held Saturday June 19 from 11-3 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Princeton. A memorial service will follow for family and close friends.
