Obituary of Lizzie McCrary

Mrs. Lizzie Todd Carter McCrary, age 94, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011. She born April 22, 1917 in Rutherford County, Tennessee. She operated Carter's Grocery in Manchester for over 40 years. Mrs. McCrary was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Taylor Carter and Clifford McCrary; parents, Andrew Jackson Todd and Era Vassar Todd; brother, Charlie Todd; and sister, Elva Hartman. She is survived by two sons, Robert (Dolores) Carter of Lumberton, Mississippi, and John (Martha) Carter of Nashville; two daughters, Mary V. Carter of Manchester and Martha Carter Fletcher of Nashville. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Dana (Danny) Kelley, Jonathan (Bonnie) Carter, Ashley (Jack) Ketteman, John David Carter, Bethany (James) McBride, Mary Beth (Douglas) Martin, and Nathan (Amanda) Fletcher; four great grandchildren, Joshua and Courtney Kelley and Jane and Callie Ketteman. She is survived by three sisters, Lyta Bryan and Carmean Turner of Manchester and Callie Bryan of Morrison and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church in Rutherford County and attended Manchester First Freewill Baptist Church. Visitation will be Friday, June 10, at Manchester Funeral Home from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday, June 11, 1:00 p.m. at Manchester Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11:00am. Burial will be at Shelton Cemetery in Rutherford County.
