J. T. Tucker
J. T. Tucker, age 95 of Murfreesboro, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Community Care of Rutherford County. Born in Summitville, TN, he was the son of the late George Thomas and Otie Elizabeth Jarrell Tucker.
Mr. Tucker was a long time member, elder, and president of the Sunday school class at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Murfreesboro, and a member of the Beach Grove, TN Herman Lodge # 239 for 50 years.
Mr. Tucker graduated from State Teachers College in Murfreesboro and began his teaching career of 36 years. He was nominated for Coffee County's Teacher of the Year and was voted in the top 4 for Tennessee's Teacher of the Year. As administrator from Westwood Junior High School he retired. He loved hunting his hounds.
Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Jessie Mae Tucker; brothers, Frank, Ewell, Hughie and Raymond Tucker; sisters, Kate Gibson, Emma Uselton and Josie Fisher.
Mr. Tucker is survived by his daughter, Lana Tucker Norton of Murfreesboro; granddaughter, Wendy Jessica Norton of Los Angeles, CA; nieces, Sue Robinson of Rydal, GA and Mildred Jacobs of Murfreesboro; nephew, Raymond Tucker of Marshall County, TN.
Visitation with the family will be held Sunday, March 11, 2007 beginning at 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, March 12, 2007 at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Pastor, Dr. Craig Martindale and Chaplin Perry Muse officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
