David was a classmate of mine and we became fast friends. We stayed in touch over the years. He was the brightestet person I have ever met and never afraid to speak his mind. I will miss him greatly. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

Not just a teacher but a role model, Mr. Chambliss – as I knew him in my days at St. Rose elementary – impressed upon his students a passion for both literature and life itself. He exemplified creativity, responsibility, and good humor. I am a better student and young man for having met him.

I am so sad to learn of David's passing. We met and became fast friends during his one year in a Catholic seminary (St. Meinrad, Indiana) in 1989. We would periodically visit each other in the years following. This became more difficult for us once he settled down with the kids and I served as a priest in Arizona but we each did the best we could to keep in touch, something Facebook definitely helped in more recent years. He was a bright, vivacious and caring man and will be sorely missed locally and here in California. God bless you, David's family. I look forward to our reunion down the road in a better place.

David Chambliss was a man who was larger than life! There are so many wonderful memories I have of working with him at Saint Rose School. He was brilliant and could really do just about anything. His humor and smile lit up the place. He was an amazing teacher who was a fine role model to his students. He was generous and giving in ways that were almost beyond anyone's reach. My life is richer having known and worked with him. His presence in the world will be missed, but the good he did lives on in the lives he touched. Prayers for all of you. May David rest in peace.

Dave graced our tour company with his presence each weekend. Our guests adored him and he always gave 100% to his job. He was so proud of the accomplishments of the kids and I loved hearing stories of their latest achievements. May they always find strength and guidance from Dave's love and devotion for them. Dave, you will be terribly missed and I know you are warming heaven with your smile!

David was one of the nicest and most sincere people I have ever met. I met him probably 10 years ago volunteering for Beesley Humane Society. I was so impressed by him because he was so smart, funny and easy to talk to. He was a delight to be around. I have continued to stay in touch with David through facebook a little bit and his death at such a young age is such a terrible shock! He appeared to be quite responsible and loving to his family and my heart goes out to them all. We will all grieve together for such a loved man and we will miss him very much.

My prayers go out to all members of this family. I had the wonderful privilege of teaching Ivye for a few weeks before I retired. I will never forget the kind note and fresh flowers Mr. Chambliss sent to me on the first full day of school. He was the kind of person that you liked instantly and he always had a kind nature and beautiful smile to share. And Ivye was just like him. After I retired and started subbing, I had the pleasure of doing car duty . It was always such a wonderful pleasure watching Ivye and Thomas hop In Mr. Chambliss's car, because he always had a warm smile and kind words when greeting his children. Many parents are in a hurry or seem uninterested when the kids are picked up after school, but not Mr. Chambliss. We hardly knew each other , but he made a huge impression on me. I know he will be dearly missed.

I am so sorry to hear of David's death. He was a delightful fifth grade student many years ago, and I so enjoyed seeing and talking with him many times during his adult life. I admired the fact that he raised many of his nieces and nephews. He was one of a kind in his generosity.
