Obituary of Harlon Hargis

Harlon Burns Hargis, age 86, of Murfreesboro, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Born in Big Rock, TN he lived most of his life in Murfreesboro. Mr. Hargis was a Master Sargant in the U.S. Army and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge in WWII in the Argonne Forest. He was a retired Psychiatric Social Worker at the Alvin C. York V.A. Medical Center in Murfreesboro. He was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church. Services will be Tuesday, September 18, 2007, 2:00 pm at the Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Clardy and Dr. Fred Hembree will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, September 17, 2007 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home.
Harlon was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Gray Hargis and Blanche Smith Hargis. His wife, Evelyn Carr Hargis; his brothers, Gray Hargis, Robert Hargis, Elmo Hargis, and James Hargis. He is survived by his daughters, Jeannie McBride of Murfreesboro, and Jennie Stephens of Guthrie, OK; his sister, Lucille Hargis Francis of Crafton, KY; 1 grandchild, Jiny McBride; 3 great-grandchildren, Edie Cressell, Ava Cressell, and Pauly Stephens.
