Dear Dad, I know that you are certainly in a better place. I am so glad that you are well now. Mama sure took excellent care of you, so that you could be here with us longer. I also know that little Jenna and Riley miss you, too. And Maddie ! I know she misses you ! Guess you are having a reunion in heaven right now geting to see Sammy and David and Buford. I hope you three stay out of trouble! Guess you can't get in to trouble in heaven though. And Pappy Lee and Grandmother sure are glad to see you I am sure of that. Oh yeah and Esther Lee, "Uncle Paul", I bet she was waiting at the gate with the biggest hug of all. I love you dad, and I hope that you won't worry too awful much about mama. She is a strong woman. Well, you raised let's see me, Toby,Tracey,Marcus,Jason,Melissa, Joshua, and Savannah. I'd say that is an accomplishment! You and mom that is. Thank you for the memories. Guess I'll always keep in my heart the view I saw at Opryland of you and mom sitting on that train with NO KIDS ! Just enjoying life. I know that will happen again someday. Love, Paula

I am a friend of Jason's; however, I was unable to attend the services. I never met Mr. Mathis, but I know that he had part in raising a wonderful son. I am deeply sorry for you loss, and my prayers are with the Mathis family.

Sheila...I am so sorry for your loss. You and Paul meant so very much to my mother. Take comfort in knowing that she and Paul are rejoicing together! I'll bet she's already shown him the garden! We will be praying for you and your family. Your kindness to my mother is still remembered.

Shelia my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. I know you will miss Paul greatly but he is now at rest and pain free. I sure do remember a lot of good times playing with Paul as a pre-teen and teenagers, mostly around Uncle Lee's garage and Grandmothers home on the farm, lots of fond memories. I have changed jobs in the past few weeks and am not able to be there due to work commitments but will continue to think of you and your family. Rest well knowing he is visiting with his dad, mom, uncles and aunts in a much better place.....
