I was so shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of my childhood friend. Joe, I know you will be deeply missed and you genuinely had a good heart. I hope you are at peace and my deepest sympathies to your family and loved ones. I know that I represent and speak for the entire Barnes family when I say all this. The Reed family will always be in our hearts and history. We love you all very much.

To the Reed Family, my prayers are with you at this time. I have so many fond memories of Joe from FBC to Campus School, through Middle School, though we parted ways and I went to RHS, we still were family at FBC. Who could ever forget looking into those big brown eyes and knowing he cared? We lost touch through the years, but he found me once again through FaceBook not long ago. I had no idea what he'd been going through and cannot imagine what life for you must be without him. Look to God for comfort, and know my prayers, as with many others, are with you. I wish I could attend the service, but am unable to. Love to you all.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Joe's family. I have been friends with Joe for many years and graduated with him and Tiffany from Oakland. Joe was such a wonderful friend. He was very intelligent, caring, kind and a lot of fun to be around! I have many special memories of him and the time I was able to spend with him, his family and friends. I will remember the fun times in school, camping, boating, changing flat tires for me, letting me visit with him in Chattanooga, getting to know his career and why he loved it so, or just hanging out with him. My heart breaks to know that he will no longer be around to be such a joy and blessing to those who love him. I will always remember Joe and that sweet smile that could just melt your heart! Joe, you will truly be missed!

There are so many memories of Joe that simply make me smile, and even laugh out loud. He was a great friend to me, although it had been a long time since I had seen him. My prayers go to his wife and family.
